Right to Information Act - 2005 The Govt. of India has enacted “ Rights to Information Act-2005” to provide for systems and procedures to exercise right to information for citizens for securing access to information under control of Public Authorities, in order to promote transparency and accountability, which has come into force from 15th June 2005. Govt. of India vide their notification dated the 16th September 2005 have since prescribed the following fee structure for providing information to an applicant under the Act. (a) A request for obtaining information under sub-section (1) of section 6 of Right to Information Act (hereinafter called “the Act”) shall be accompanied by an application fee of rupees ten (Rs.10/-) by way of cash against proper receipt or by Demand Draft or Banker’s Cheaque payable to the Bank. (b) For providing the information under sub-section (1) of section 7 of the Act, the fee shall be charged by way of cash against proper receipt or by Demand Draft or Banker’s Cheaque payable to the Bank at the following rates:
